Pork katsu is a simple yet effective dish guaranteed to hit the spot after a long day at work. This dish requires minimal ingredients with no preparation, making it a perfect weeknight meal! Pair with Japanese curry if you are feeling a little fancy.

Ingredients

  • Pork Loin Steak
  • 1 egg

  • Panko crumbs
  • Neutral oil for frying
  • Tonkatsu sauce (I used Obento brand)

Method

  1. Tenderise pork steak with a meat tenderiser.
  2. Season pork steak with salt and pepper on both sides.
  3. Make a 3-step dredging station: Plain flour, beaten egg, panko crumbs
  4. Pat pork into plain flour, beaten egg mixture, then panko crumbs. Press pork into panko crumbs firmly.
  5. Shallow fry crumbed pork in oil until golden brown, or approximately 3 minutes on each side.
  6. Drizzle tonkatsu sauce on the pork steak and serve with white rice.
